5 STEPS TO IDEA VALIDATION IN THE REAL WORLD

INTRODUCTION
- Test idea in real world with real potential clients.
- Real clients, real problems exist in real world. Not in your mind.
- Plan What to do, How to do it and What to say.
- Need to be open-minded. Willing to receive criticisms.

WHAT IS IDEA VALIDATION
- Process that we go through to validate that our ideas.
- Help us to evaluate that our ideas are worth pursuing.
- Expose idea to target audience and get feedback from them.
- Surveys, polls or face-to-face interviews.
- Idea Validations saves TIME and MONEY.

STEP 1: BRAINSTORM INTERNALLY
- Prepare 4-5 variations of your idea.
- Too many variations may confuse the clients.
- Expect them to spend only 10 minutes to listen to your idea variations.

STEP 2: DON’T ASK RELATIVES AND FRIENDS
- They will be biased.

STEP 3: CHOOSING YOUR INTERVIEWEE
- Find people who are expected to use your idea
- Recommended to conduct face-to-face interview so that you get visual feedback as well

STEP 4: CONDUCT YOUR INTERVIEW
- 1) Thank them for their time.
- 2) Tell them that you are NOT to SELL anything.
- 3) Explain WHAT YOU DO in general
- 4) Explain the PROCESS of this interview
- 5) Go through each variation in one shot
(Pay attention to audio and visual feedback)
- 6) Thank them again for their time


STEP 5: REVIEW
- Focus on what people think the best. NOT what you think the best.

CONCLUSION:
- The whole process doesn’t have to be painful. Relax and enjoy.
- Show your passion.
- Don’t worry that people may steal your idea. Ideas can be conceived easily but it takes effort to realize it.
- Be proud with your idea.
- Don’t be disappointed if your idea wasn’t validated well. At least you save TIME and EFFORT before attempting to produce things that people don’t buy.
